The latest figures produced by the Spanish national statistics Institute have shown a fall in sales of Spanish property's of 11.4% in June 2012 in comparison with the previous year. The figures show that a total of 25,405 sales occurred during the month of June, with 52.3% for resales, and 47.7% for new build properties. Almost 85% of Spanish properties sold during June were in urban areas, with just over 15% in more rural locations.
Looking at the individual regions, the highest number of sales (per capita) was in Valencia, with 95 house sales per 100,000 population, closely followed by la Rioja (85) and Murcia (79). At the bottom end of the scale were Asturias (42), Galicia (42) and the Basque Country (53).
